Halberstein, Richard M.


Richard M. "Rich" Halberstein, 36, died suddenly at home in Seattle, Wash.

For the past seven years, he had been employed as a software programmer for EXE Technologies, Inc. Previously, he had similar positions with Temple University and Handisoft, Inc. in Philadelphia. He graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1983. He was on the gymnastics and tennis teams. He participated with the chess, debate and math groups. His sophomore year, he was a delegate to the General Electric Student Leadership Conference in King of Prussia. He was named Scholar-Athlete his senior year. He graduated with honors from Cornell University in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in English. He was editor of the Lunatic, the campus humor magazine. He was named one of the 50 winners of a Carl Sagan student leadership award his senior year. He is survived by his companion, Dr. Kira Misura, Seattle; his parents Joe and Lillian Halberstein, Middletown; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Jennifer Halberstein, Lower Makefield; a niece, Miiya Halberstein, Lower Makefield; an uncle and aunt-in-law, Marvin and Mildred Halberstein, Gainesville, Fla.; a great aunt, Mary Shafer, Jacksonville, Fla. and his godmother, Miriam Bucholtz, Orlando, Fla. Burial was in Sons of Israel Cemetery, St. Augustine, Fla. Craig Funeral Home of St. Augustine was in charge of arrangements.
